Proposed Training Courses

Simonsbath House plans to host and run a variety of training courses for school staff. As experienced trainers and facilitators with a sound knowledge and understanding of the issues faced by school groups and other adults working with young people we aim to provide training courses to share best practice in the field of outdoor and adventurous activities.
The following are some of the course planned for this year (dates to be advised)

• GNAS Community Sports Leader Award
• Integrating Orienteering Skills into your P.E Curriculum K.S.2
• Mapwork and orienteering at K.S. 2
• Accreditation course for Teacher /Leader in Orienteering - 1-2 day
• Using the School Grounds in Early Years
• Art in the Environment
• Developing Literacy Skills using the Outdoor Environment
• Fieldwork techniques for Geography and Science
• Developing Numeracy Skills using the Outdoor Environment
• Developing OAA as part of your P.E. Curriculum
• Influencing Group Behaviour through practical teamwork activities K.S. 3
• Effective Teamwork and Communication
• Managing Conflict
• Nationally recognised Trail Cycle Leader/Mountain Bike leader
• British Orienteering Federation Teacher/Leader
• First Aid

We look to meet the individual needs of course members, confirming and reinforcing best practice relevant to the work place. These stimulating courses offer practical advice and build on prior knowledge, skills and understanding.
